Sustainable Finance by Alexander Hittle

March 4th from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM HST

This Workshop will explore the idea of "Sustainable Finance" -- the idea that considerations beyond pure financial return should be central to investment decision-making by Business Leaders and Portfolio Managers. In particular, "ESG" -- Environmental, Social, and Governmental -- factors are highlighted. Sustainable finance advocates claim that this broader approach is a necessary and overdue improvement over traditional finance. Doubters argue that businesses are designed to make money and that it is the duty of government regulators, not profit-seeking firms, to ensure that market participants do not cause excessive environmental and social harm.  In addition, doubters argue that maximizing societal wealth is a necessary prerequisite to achieving other social goals. Both views will be covered in the workshop. Participants will be presented with the arguments and given a chance to formulate their own views.

Establishing Your Brand Identity by Cherise Lee

April 29th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

A Brand Identity consists of what your brand believes in. Your values, how you communicate your product, and most importantly, what you want people to feel when they interact with it. Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, states “Branding is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.” Companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless hours understanding, developing and driving their brands, so it only makes sense that we invest the time and energy in doing the same for ourselves. In this workshop, you will learn proven methods to establish your own personal brand through mastering your mindset, creating a powerful resume and establishing strong and meaningful connections that will propel you in your career.
